Hitler $17.50 This figure brings ups very strong emotional responses. Because of it’s strong pull to both children and adults alike, I think it’s an important figure in a Sandplay collection. There is a fascinating article about the use of the Hitler figure in Sandplay in Volume XV Number 1, 2006 of the Journal of Sandplay Therapy. It is by Carla Sharp entitled "A Boy’s Use of the Hitler Figure in Sandplay: Integration of the Shadow Complex." It is with her permission that I briefly quote from this article. "It will be up to each individual therapist to decide whether to include this figure in his or her collection. From my own experience, it is important to have such figures on our shelves, to allow our clients to represent the ‘dark side’ of their psychic lives. Just as fairy tales would not exist without the tension between good and evil, so our lives cannot be lived without coming to terms with these archetypes. Jung states, ‘the view that we can simply turn our back on evil and in this way eschew it belongs to the long list of antiquated naiveties’ ( Jung, 1959,p.297). Modern shadow problems abound. By assisting clients and ourselves to work these through, we are doing our small share towards a more peaceful world. Slabs of snow are first cut with a blade and shaved for a precise fit. The slabs, some 8 inches thick and 2 or 3 feet in dimension, are then placed so they spiral upwards and inwards like a dome. When the rounded key block at the top is in place the house is ready. It is so sturdy you can walk over the top. The snow acts as an insulator and keeps the inside warm. Buying two of these is highly recommended and we are giving you a price break if you buy two. In my playroom, they have most often been used in pairs, often very breast-like in appearance.
